Blankouts, explores how society censors and codes female stories of assault. Viewers experience a repeating wallpaper pattern made of redacted transcripts, which are wheat-pasted to the gallery wall. The artist began by recording a series of video interviews that described her autobiographical experiences with sexual assault and harassment. These videos were then transcribed into a series of documents and provided to a group of 25 female-identified participants. The participants were asked to review the transcripts before redacting them in any manner they saw fit, including crossing out or editing the story. These redacted documents were developed into a site-specific installation designed for the Special Projects Gallery at York University.
